[OPINION] Respect: Seiichi’s Lasting Legacy {1}

From humble beginnings in Japan to his new found fame via Pinoy Big Brother Unlimited (Season 4), Seiichi Ushimi brought with him the values and admirable traits that has set him apart from the rest of his contemporaries.  At first glance, his charming boyish good looks, coupled with that killer smile of his, is what initially drew viewers to him. But early on in the season, his charming and funny antics made him even more endearing to the masses—that which earned him the title of “Pinoy Anime ng Japan.”

There is more to Seiichi than meets the eye.  Although his being quiet and pensive is quite often perceived (and misconstrued) as being aloof, his fellow housemates know him as a team-player despite the obvious language barrier. He has a ready smile for everyone… he offers quiet comfort for anybody who needs someone to listen… gives a pat on the back and encouraging words (though few but heartfelt) to his teammates for a job well done…  and his selfless nature is awe-inspiring.

To many supporters, Seiichi is a class all his own. He continues to better himself as a person, and remains to be hardworking and focused in the tasks that are thrown at him. And although the language barrier is still a problem, Seiichi is relentless in pursuing his goal to learn and overcome it. His persevering and down-to-earth nature has endeared him to thousands of viewers around the globe and people find themselves being able to relate to his struggles as a third-culture kid (TCK) and his plight to belong and be accepted. But what makes Seiichi different is his sincerity and his utmost regard for other people. His ability to rise above all the drama that goes on around him and remain humble is praise-worthy. These are just but some of many qualities that for me, has made him worthy of a place in the Big Four.

Seiichi has certainly earned his place in PBB history. And for someone who embodies its true essence in everything he does, RESPECT will probably be Seiichi‘s lasting legacy to his family, friends, co-housemates and viewers of Pinoy Big Brother for seasons to come.
