The Serious Woes of Team WAYUK
The entire week from 12/4 – 12/10 have been a complete emotional roller coaster for our housemates, most especially the underdog1 house, Team WAYUK. We have witnessed the first (since the split to two houses) major confrontation of housemates (Luz and Lyn), the tragic loss of a housemate’s loved one (Lyn’s mother’s death), and today, so far the most shocking news the housemates— and even the viewers— have ever received since the revelation of the two houses and the house battle between Team WAYUK and Team HIGH VOLTAGE.
That particular shocking news is the unexpected forced eviction of one of Team WAYUK’s strongest and smartest housemates, Mark.
Why do I say that this was unexpected? I have to say PBB was very clever with their announcements of a forced eviction among the housemates by stating that both polls for Wayuk and High Voltage nominees were halted. It was already given that Luz will definitely exit voluntary to be with her family at this very difficult time, but the housemate who will be forced evicted was still out in the open. Because HV‘s polls were also stopped, pretty much everyone (myself included) already predicted that the one who will be force evicted would be coming from HV.
Throughout all the FB fanpages dedicated to PBB, there were several predictions that were coming from HV from the public favorites (Slater) to the least favorites (Seth and Deniesse) may be those in danger of force eviction. I think the reason why this was unexpected simply because during the early days before Eviction Night that PBB did not give us a single clue as to which housemate that they were talking about and the violations that became grounds for forced eviction.
Reminiscing the forced eviction of Reg, Mark also committed the same major violation applying to new housemates, regarding revealing and asking about the outside world to his girlfriend, Kim. Because Kim arrived in PBB a week before Mark did, that makes Mark the newer housemate. In addition to that major violation, he also committed other minor violations, from lapel violations to even whispering and hand signals. His automatic nomination also placed him in complete danger of forced eviction, just like how HV housemate Slater was when he was first automatically nominated for not going through his secret task with Joya and in danger of forced eviction if he backs out from his second secret task involving the 3Gs.
This is indeed not just shocking, but also heartbreaking. Wayuk now suffers a major, not to mention unfair, disadvantage against HV in the next contra battles due to having two housemates short (12 housemates) comparing to HV‘s number (14 housemates). In addition, at the end of the Eviction Night, the announcement also came that tomorrow will also be Back-to-Back Nominations, meaning that despite that they’re two housemates short, Wayuk will still have to nominate one of their own to be evicted this coming week, while HV proceeds with the usual nominations. The question is now, will PBB do something about the number of housemates per house to have them equal to each other?
Mark’s forced eviction is a major loss, however, rules are rules and rules must be followed and honored by all housemates. No excuses. I’m sure the public viewers are now having an outcry towards PBB, Kuya, and the staff for making this “unfair” move. This also shows that PBB has no bias towards the public favorite housemates (such as Seiichi, Slater, Tin, Divine, Pamu) and even the favorites also apply to these punishments and consequences. Mark is indeed a public viewer favorite, but because he continued to violate the rules during his automatic nomination status, it was clear and just that he is leading himself to his end as a housemate.
What Will Become of Kim Now?
During the week, in addition to tutoring the OFKs (Seiichi, Kevin, Ryan) the aspects of Filipino culture and language, Kim was also given a secret task involving her real-life love, Mark, which was to keep herself separated from him for the rest of the week. She was also given a time limit of an hour to get herself separated from him. If she ever ends up next to Mark and start their usual flirting again, she loses the time from the hour limit. So far she only lost two minutes and from there, she decided to concentrate more on the weekly task with the OFKs rather than sticking herself to Mark as always in order to succeed.
What was the point of this secret task? For sure, the only clue that we could gather from the secret task’s purpose was to teach Kim how to be more independent away from Mark and assimilate herself more with the rest of the housemates in the house. Who would have thought that this secret task also gave a subliminal message to Kim that this would be the final week that she and Mark would be together under the same roof. What a shocker indeed.
Many MarKim fans are probably speculating on what Kim might do this coming week without Mark by her side. How will she cope being herself inside the house with the entire Wayuk team whom she still finds herself being strangers with? Will she ponder a voluntary exit for the second time to join Mark in the outside world? Will the housemates feel pity for her and nominate her to be evicted this week for the sake of true love? Or will Kim follow Mark’s words to her as he kept reminding her everyday: “No matter what happens, don’t succumb yourself to defeat and continue on?”
Her involvement with the OFKs weekly task and the secret task that she received (though I’m counting more on the OFKs task) should help her determine her decision to remain in the house and do what she can to be a serious team player, however her being truly in love can also show her weakness and can also be the main reason of her self-defeat. We’ll just see what happens as we continue to watch.
Why the Team High Voltage Nomination Polls Stopped?
Along with Kim’s standing and the major woes that Team WAYUK is now suffering, another question should make the viewers ponder during this roller coaster week. Why did PBB stop the nomination polls for Team HV when none of them will be evicted this week? In addition to that, regular nominations continue for them like as always? What exactly is Kuya/PBB have in their minds for HV at this point?
There have been some speculation that a shuffling between the two teams may occur as a result of two housemates from Wayuk exiting the house for good. A rumor in the beginning, now it may sound like this theory may possibly be true. Why the HV nomination polls stopped, we don’t have a direct answer.
At this point, I could only think of three things that may possibly happen during the upcoming week:
- One housemate from HV will be chosen to switch to Wayuk.
- Kuya has around 30 reserved housemates and may send in two to Wayuk to replace Lyn and Mark.
- Continue on with the contra battles with the same housemates and no new additions, except that two HV housemates will not participate during these battles. On the other hand, not all housemates participate in certain contra battles anyway.
My gut feeling though is telling me that the second and the third statement on the above list may possibly happen, but as always, I don’t want to jump in to conclusions and simply wait for the official announcements to come.
Tomorrow will be the 4th Nomination Night and regular nominations continue. On that same day, we will also learn who will be the new HoH’s for both Team Wayuk and Team HV. We may also learn of any new developments as a result of the two evictions that occurred today.
Careful, Critical Monitoring
After Mark’s exit, Kuya warned both houses once more regarding the importance of the regulations as stated in the rulebook and why it is important to follow these regulations at the utmost. He also warned the housemates of both teams to never underestimate the rulebook and the ongoings around their houses as Kuya never misses every little minor slip the housemates may commit. For that, he sent out two guards and passed out a note containing the names of the housemates who committed minor violations that were not pointed out earlier.
What Kuya may do to these housemates in those lists is still unknown. We’ll just have to wait and see.
- Sadly, based on the viewer comments in the Official PBB4 FB fanpage, there aren’t too many Wayuk fans… [↩]
