10/29/2011 – The Big Fiesta
The newest and the biggest season of Pinoy Big Brother kicks off with its very first 2-hour episode of Pinoy Big Brother Unlimited: The Big Fiesta. We are introduced to 13 new housemates from different parts of the world, different origins and backgrounds, different walks of life, different outlooks of life. We are also introduced to the current theme of the house: the slums corner.
In addition to this brand-new little twist, Kuya1 also began his usual twists of the entire game by placing in an unofficial housemate from his reserves: a 24-year-old American-born would-be law enforcer from Chicago, Carlo Romero, after being picked in a luck raffle that would give him the opportunity to become an official housemate of PBB. In order for this to happen, Carlo must complete four impossible tasks that Kuya was about to assign him once he gets inside the house.
During their first night, Kuya calls out three volunteers to step in to the confession room. Slater, Luz, and Paco volunteered and had a conference with Kuya. They were given a choice of unlimited supplies for the entire week, however they were only given three choices and they can only choose one: unlimited food, unlimited water (not including drinking water), or unlimited clothes. The episode leaves off with them still discussing over the choices.

The housemates wake up to their first morning in the means of random people of the streets arguing and yelling at each other here and there as their wake-up call.
Also known as getting to know each other and the house stage of the series, the housemates were quite overwhelmed, with a few disappointed, with the theme and the decor of the house (that being the slums). Many of the housemates came from well-off families and some currently lived in the life on the streets and some began living in the life of the streets and climbed their way up to success. Though disappointed with their expectation that they would be living large in isolation just like the previous PBB seasons, some find this theme a change to gain a new experience they have never experienced before in their everyday lives.
Slater, Luz, and Paco chose unlimited food. This means that they will have a limited supply of water and they will also have very limited clothes to change in. This means that they must conserve the water for cooking and for hygiene (washing their faces, brushing their teeth, washing their hands, etc.) and they will only be given very few extra change of clothes for the week.
A few even made instant buddies from one another, namely Biggel, Kigoy, Pamu, and Seichan.

Kuya first explains to them this season’s very first weekly task. They will be given seven different challenges and the housemates must win five out of the seven challenges in order to win this weekly task. If they win, they will have a chance to earn their weekly budget for their necessities. If they lose, they won’t have a weekly budget and an extra consequence: half of the housemates will be exiting the house at the end of this week.
The housemates also discuss how they can utilize their limited resources of water and clothes for the entire week. In addition, a few of the housemates personalities are slowly unleashing, which can cause early clashes with one another.
The first of the seven challenges was to have the housemates create innovative inventions out of a huge pile of junk. Four innovative, creative-minded volunteers were chosen: Paco (actor/entertainer), Slater (engineer), Divine (tattoo artist/graphic designer), and Roy (salesperson/promoter). They must build creative inventions out of a given huge pile of junk and they must present and convince Kuya to purchase these items. Will Kuya be sold to the housemates’ sale?

Rumor has it that the slums corner will have interesting visitors very soon. After all, Halloween just arrived around the corner.
The housemates were assigned their second challenge of their weekly task: Videoke. Six volunteers (Pamu, Kim, Jaz, Kevin, Carlo, Biggel (?)) with the best singing voices were chosen for the task, in which they must sing a familiar Filipino song while the microphone is suspended and swinging from the air. The volunteers must sing on the mic without losing the mic from their sight, meaning as the mic swings, the singers must sing along with it. The final scores of their performances must equal to 500 or more in order for them to succeed in this task.
After that, their third challenge of the weekly task was given: “Kiskis” task. Four volunteers (Luz, Seichan, Biggel, Tin) must sandpaper-scratch out the carving of “Unlimited” on a wooden bench within an hour until the word is completely unreadable. Will the housemates regain their loss?
Kuya decided to play a little Halloween prank on the housemates, starting with them gathering around in a circle to tell their scariest stories they’ve ever heard— or experienced. And just like rumors said, the housemates had interesting visitors that truly made them scream like crazy. Two of the particular housemates, Pamu and Seichan, were especially targeted, being the two most scaredy housemates to the occult and to the paranormal.
Carlo, the unofficial/reserved housemates, is assigned his first two of his four impossible tasks he needs to complete before the end of the week: He must find certain housemates with certain tattoos, the names of the housemates, the art of their tattoos, and where on their bodies are they located. His second impossible task was to steal three of his housemates’ clothes without being seen and submit them to Kuya in the confession room. In addition, the housemates must not find out or suspect that he is the “mole” unofficial housemate while he does his impossible tasks.
11/02/2011
The housemates receive their fourth challenge of their weekly task: “Back-sketball.” Four volunteers who are good at shooting (or rather, are good in basketball) were chosen to take on this task (Divine, Carlo, Biggel, Tin). Their objective was to score two out of their total 20 chance shots in order to win this challenge, however there is a twist. They don’t call this “back”-sketball for nothing after all. They must shoot the ball with their backs facing the basket and only a mirror in front of them in order to aim the ball to the basket.
In the meantime, Carlo is assigned his third impossible task: He must pour out their remaining supply of water without being seen or suspected by any of his housemates. He decided to do this task very late night when everyone is asleep, keeping in mind that his housemates must not suspect of him being the “mole” housemate. Will he succeed?
11/03/2011
The fifth challenge of the weekly task actually coincides with Carlo’s fourth (and final) impossible task: “Paypay” Task.
Stating Carlo’s fourth impossible task first, he must volunteer for the next challenge of the weekly task and sabotage it, forcing the housemates to fail, forcing Kuya to give them their seventh and final challenge of the weekly task. In the “Paypay” Task, two volunteers (Carlo and Kigoy) who are strong insomniacs2 must fan the rest of their housemates using bamboo fans four 24 hours. The electric fans installed inside the house are turned off, providing an unneeded heat that cast upon the housemates during their sleep.
Carlo’s task was to purposely lose this challenge, and as he and Kigoy alternate to fan the housemates while the other takes a short nap, Carlo purposely goes to sleep as soon as Kigoy began his break nap. The result was Carlo winning this impossible task and the housemates losing another challenge in their weekly task.
To make up for the loss, the housemates were given another task: “Nail Art” Task. The housemates must make an artwork out of nails being hammered in to a wooden platform. After they are finished, two volunteers with the strongest arms (Luz and Carlo) must pull out the nails from the wooden platform in a given limited time.
After three days of not taking a bath, Kuya finally gives them the opportunity to take a bath during the playing of “Pinoy Ako” theme song on the overhead. As the song starts, everyone can start taking a bath. When the song ends, everyone must be finished. Carlo volunteers to pump the water out for the housemates to take their bath, however he uses this opportunity to take on one more impossible task he hasn’t fulfilled yet: Find the tattoos of the housemates and the locations on their bodies. Because the housemates would be “stripping” off, he would be able to see/find them.
At the end of this episode, Kuya reveals to the housemates that one of them is an unofficial housemate, a “mole” assigned to do impossible tasks in order to become an official housemate. The housemates were given the time to discuss who that particular “mole” may be and present their thoughts and opinions to Kuya in the confession room regarding who they think is the “mole.”
11/04/2011
Out of the 13 housemates, only Kevin suspected Carlo as being the “mole.” The girls suspected Paco and the guys suspected Luz. This resulted in Carlo succeeding the part of his task of his housemates suspecting of his unofficial housemate status.
The seventh and final challenge of the weekly task was for the housemates to ride the bike-powered pedicab with a missing wheel on the pedicab itself around in a circle once without falling or the pedicab touching the ground. This requires strength, patience, and balance. Four volunteers were chosen to ride and were given three tries to have all four of them ride it around the circle without falling.
Unfortunately, the housemates failed to win this challenge, in which they also failed the weekly task. They only one 4 out of 7 challenges given and they needed 5 to win the weekly task. Carlo, the mole housemate, also failed his impossible tasks, putting him under pressure of whether he will be leaving PBB for good or not.
In the confession room, Carlo asked for another chance. He was able to do three out of the four impossible challenges after all. Kuya approved of his plea, however he stated that the decision for him to become an official housemate will be in the hands of the housemates rather than his own.
Will the housemates, after learning of Carlo’s true status, decide to keep him in the house and be an official housemate? Or do they find Carlo a threat to their quest for victory?
11/05/2011 – PBB Unligayang Pasko
Today’s episode is yet another special episode, Kuya is giving us his early Christmas presents: a brand-new set of housemates who will live in a brand-new house! But before that, let’s touch back to our first 14 housemates in the first house.
Because the housemates failed their first weekly task, not only that they will not have a weekly budget for next week, but six of them will be leaving as part of the consequences of their failure. Kuya called out the housemates to drop one piece of clothing in to the confession room before they proceed with what’s to come. But before this, Carlo’s fate as a housemate in the show has finally revealed. Out of the 13 official housemates, only one housemate voted for Carlo to leave the house, while the other 12 wanted Carlo to stay and become an official housemate. Starting today, Carlo is now an official PBB housemate.
Kuya assigns Carlo his very first task as an official housemate, calling him in the confession room. In front of Carlo are 13 boxes with no names or any label except for just numbers 1 to 13 contained the pieces of clothing that the housemates submitted earlier today. Carlo’s task was to choose 6 of the boxes, place them in the drawstring bag, and throw them out through the entrance tunnel for Robi Domingo to pick them up from outside the house. The six boxes that Carlo randomly chose will be the ones who will be leaving the house.
Pamu, Kevin, Paco, Jaz, Kim, and Seichan were the unfortunate housemates who were randomly chosen by Carlo to leave the house. However, Kuya only mentioned that they will be leaving the house. He never mentioned that the six will be evicted from PBB forever. Without the rest of the “saved” housemates knowing, these six were instead transferred to the 2nd house, where these upcoming new housemates will be staying. The 2nd house, as shown for the first time on air, is a major upgrade for the six coming from “the slums corner.” Rather than these six felt sad that they had to leave the “slums,” they became ecstatic and excited that they still remain as official active housemates, along with the upgrade perk of living at the more modern, much cleaner 2nd house.
The rest of this episode finally revealed the new batch of 14 housemates. After the introductions, six out of the 14 new housemates began their very first task. This concludes this day’s episode.
On the Next Weekly Recap…
I will be providing the new housemates and the new re-arrangements of the two houses. For now, this is the conclusion of our very first weekly recap.
